Groups of your choice or School groups

The first choice you need to make when selecting the recipients for your new conversation is the contact group.

With a choice of groups (Students, Parents, Parents with students; Personal; School staff; Teachers) you can select the recipients and combine different groups. For example, in a conversation with a school board of trustees, select parents of students from different classes and include members of the school administration, or in a conversation or announcement with a dance group, select students from different classes and their parents.

If new students join the class, new parents get access to eKool, or students or parents leave the class, then the group recipients must be changed - add or remove participants. This can be done by the administrator of each conversation - the person who added it or the user nominated by them.

Attention!

It is up to the person who started the conversation (the administrator) to manage the group - removing members who have left the school and adding new members.

School groups are set up according to roles and renew automatically.

The number behind each group indicates the number of users in that group to whom the message will be sent. There will be 3 school groups per class - formmasters, parents, students. When a new student joins a class, they will automatically be added to the school group of students of that class and will receive notifications from that group from the moment they join. They will not receive any previous notifications.

Good to know!

Choice groups and school groups cannot be combined.

Role-based rights to initiate new conversations

    • students in their own class(es) who are eKool users. It is possible to select all (tick the box in the Select all row) or to make selections with whom to start a conversation,

    • their teachers ( the group is visible when the school has allowed parents and students to write directly to teachers)
    • the administrator(s) of their school's eKool.
  • Parents:
    • Parents of their childs classmates who are eKool users. It is possible to select all or to choose with whom to start a conversation. If the child is in more than one class at the school, an additional filter (next to the school selection) can be used here.
    • childs class teacher(s)

    • the administrator(s) of their childs school's eKool.
  • Teachers:

  • School staff:
    • school staff, with each person's role in the eSchool listed ( the group will be displayed if the school has allowed teachers to write directly); school eKool administrators.

Recipient groups are added and removed according to your role in the school. If you are already participating in a conversation, that conversation will not be removed until the administrator of that conversation removes you from that conversation.

Distinguishing between groups and users

The school logo is displayed in open group chats and announcements. This is good for parents whose children attend different schools or for school staff who work in several schools.

In addition, the header of the chat window for each student and teacher will show which class they are linked to. This change will allow teachers to quickly identify which class a student has asked a question or suggestion to, without having to check separate class lists. This is particularly useful for teachers in large schools who teach a wide range of students of different ages.

For class teachers, a role label and a class number have been added to indicate immediately which classes a particular class teacher is associated with. The purpose of such labels is to make the exchange of information faster and clearer and to reduce communication problems caused by human error.

In addition, in the case of private interviews, the info (i) button displays more information about the user in question.
