Two-Factor Authentication Apps
eKool supports authentication apps as part of two-factor authentication (2FA) to provide greater security for user accounts
Two-factor authentication is based on two factors:
- Something you know – such as your password
- Something you have – such as your phone, which receives a temporary security code
This makes account hijacking significantly more difficult, even if the password falls into the wrong hands.
Apps for Devices
Popular authentication apps:
- Google Authenticator - Google Play / App Store
- Microsoft Authenticator - Google Play / App Store
- Authy - Google Play / App Store
- LastPass Authenticator - Google Play / App Store
Some devices (e.g., Samsung or Apple devices) may already have a built-in authentication app or preinstalled option. Before downloading a new app, it’s a good idea to check the device's security settings.
Recommendations
- Choose an app that is easy to use and allows for backup if needed.
- Add eKool to only one authentication app at a time.
- Make sure your phone has the correct date and time settings – incorrect settings may cause the codes to be invalid.
